Before You Go

Pack smart, travel easy

Layers Shillong and Cherrapunjee turn cold after dark pack a layered jacket and a couple of extra pairs of socks. Mawlynnong runs warmer, so dress lighter for that leg. Days stay pleasant up to 15°C, dropping toward 2°C once the sun's down.
Footwear Comfortable, grippy walking shoes for waterfall viewpoints, cave paths, and the living root bridge at Mawlynnong. Sandals are fine back at the hotel; heels aren't practical on this itinerary.
ID Proof Carry your original Aadhaar or Voter ID some hotel check-ins ask for photo ID at the desk.
Sun & Bright Mornings Even on cloudy days, carry sunscreen along with sunglasses and a cap mornings here turn bright fast.
Medical Kit Carry your usual travel medication, a basic first-aid kit, and insect repellent (Deet or Odomos). Note both the brand and generic names of any OTC drugs you're carrying.
On the Road Hill roads between Shillong, Cherrapunjee and Dawki add real travel time if you're prone to motion sickness, carry anti-nausea medicine. Mobile network (Airtel/Vodafone) can also go weak or drop out on some stretches, so don't rely on it for navigation.
  • Hill roads mean travel between points takes longer than distance alone suggests; allow extra time during monsoon (June–September) for possible delays.
  • Sunset in Shillong is early, around 4:30 pm — sightseeing is planned to wrap up before then.
  • Hotel standards vary across properties in the Northeast, and not all hotels have twin beds — let us know your bed preference at the time of booking.
  • Weather can occasionally affect sightseeing plans; every effort is made to cover all mentioned places, though changes are sometimes unavoidable.
  • Use only bottled or packaged drinking water throughout the trip — tap water isn't recommended in this region.
  • Purely vegetarian hotels are rare in the Northeast — let your tour leader know your meal preference in advance.

Everything was seamless — from the airport pickup to the checkout. Tiger Hill sunrise was absolutely breathtaking, and the Toy Train ride was a childhood dream come true. Will definitely book another trip with this team.
